It’s time for baseball.

Better stated, it’s time for Durham Bulls baseball.

There are few events in the Triangle as consistently ideal for kids as a good day of baseball at Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Downtown Durham. It’s a great stadium, in a very nice commercial district, and this year, its concessions are getting a bit of makeover, too.

Don’t worry: the kids can still get a hot dog and some fries. It’s just that this year, the adults can have a little treat too, in the form of craft beer brewed right at the stadium. That’s cool.

You’ll be able to get other beers in the stadium, too. Team ownership is shooting for a new, local angle on the food and drink made available to ticket holders, so expect an array of brews from other regional makers as well.

A new food and beverage partner was hired this year, also local: Bull City Hospitality.

Starting next month, Bull Durham Brewing Company will start tapping its kegs, adding yet another local craft beer company to the already expansive small beer scene here in the Triangle. On top of the fresh brews, new food includes Rise Biscuits & Donuts and Hog Heaven BBQ. Goodness.

Considered minor league baseball’s most recognized brand, the Bulls are currently the farm┬áprogram of the Tampa Bay Rays.┬áThe Bulls are away this weekend but home all next week in a series with Charlotte starting Monday. On Friday, a weekend home stand starts with Gwinnett.

Bulls games are great family fun. They’re affordable, games are easy to get in and out of, and the food is only getting better. Play ball!
