Taste2015 is an event about food to benefit those who need more of it

It’s never too early in the season to think about the trappings of spring. Like warmer weather, picnics, and beer.

So why not grab a ticket and a bus seat to the BBQ and Beer Bust Tour being held March 7, 2015? What a great way to spend the afternoon.

The event is just what it says it is: a bus tour of local breweries and BBQ restaurants. The tour will be led by the publisher of All About Beer, Daniel Bradford, and it starts at Mystery Brewing in Hillsborough. The drinks will be accompanied at stop 1 by the menu of Hillsborough BBQ Company.

Next, riders will cruise on over to The Original Q Shack, which is just ridiculously good. Beer is supplied by Top of the Hill. If you’re still hungry, your final destination will be The Pit for more great Triangle BBQ and beer by Carrboro’s Steel String Brewery. And what’s a pint of Steel String beer if a bluegrass band isn’t strumming along? So there’s that, too.

This event is part of a bigger, better need than just your beer and ‘que fix. Proceeds from all Taste2015 parties benefit Durham Branch of the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina.

If the event sells out, there’s really nothing to stop you from conducting such a tour of your own and just donating some money to the Food Bank. Granted, you won’t have the benefit of a shuttle driver. Then again, after a single plate of food from The Q Shack, you’ll probably be ready for a nap.

Probably best to just go for lunch.
