Sure, it may result in a few extra pounds, but Downtown Raleigh Restaurant Week is one of the best ways to sample so much of what makes the City of Oaks an emerging foodie destination.

Starting next Monday, 8/18 and running until Sunday, 8/24, the event is a series of specials and delicacies (and discounts!) from some of the best chefs in the region. Participating dining rooms will be offering “fixed price,” three-course meals for $20 or $30, depending on location. Others will be offering more expensive, but highly specialized, options during the week as well.

As Raleigh has expanded in the wake of an ongoing national influx of new residents seeking affordable housing and better jobs, so too has our compendium of culinary options. From food trucks to five-star exclusivity, Raleigh is a place for people who want to experiment with menus and seek out new favorites. (Thankfully, the “meat & three” and BBQ counters prevail.)

Some of the locations offering Downtown Raleigh Restaurant Week options include favorites like 18 Seaboard, 518 West, Caffe Luna and Dos Taquitos. Others include, The Big Easy, Busy Bee Cafe, Second Empire, Sullivans, The Oxford and The Pit. Here’s the complete list of restaurants. Some of the chefs will also be adding beer and wine pairings for an extra $10.

More than worth it.
