World Beer Fest coming to Raleigh in April 2014

The Triangle has become a national hotbed for craft beer makers. This quickly growing industry has found an audience in our area and local product is finding its way on to shelves across the country.

This is why All About Beer magazine decided to once again make Raleigh one of its stops on the annual World Beer Fest event schedule.

The celebration of all things barley and hops will be held in Moore Square on April 5.

Local brewers will be joined by other beer makers from around the world, offering more than 250 variations for tasting. Well, most people will only taste a few. But the point is, you’ll have plenty of options.

It starts at noon and runs until 4:00 p.m. Then an evening session begins at 6:00 and ends at 10:00 p.m. There will be food, music and additional beer-related activities.

Admittedly, the event isn’t real cheap. VIP tickets run $90.00 and standard tickets are half that at $45.00. Tickets are on sale now and info is available here. Act fast, it will sell out quickly.

When city leaders began targeting Downtown for revitalization, these were the types of events they had in mind. It’s not just a big party. Instead, it represents Raleigh, and the Triangle in general, as a place that demands culture and can appreciate the investment in large community events. There are plenty of cities that would balk at the extra security, money and resources needed to hold such festivals. This is what brings people to the city and makes them aware of what the future looks like for our area.

And let’s not forget, craft beer and brew pubs are a growing source of employment and pride for North Carolina.
