It’s ACC Tournament Friday. Who’s getting work done?

Even if you moved to the Triangle will allegiances to the Big Ten, Pac 10 or Big East (now pretty much gone) you’ll have no trouble becoming a fan of ACC hoops on days like today.

This is when allegiances get noticed, faces get painted and nothing gets done at work. (Except for blog posts like this perhaps.) Nevertheless, no one would blink an eye at your “sudden” flu-like symptoms or strangely, undiagnosable ailing grandparent. Whatever the excuse is, your boss has heard it. So just be honest, you want to leave at lunch to go watch ACC basketball.

Trust us, they’ll understand.

Today’s second round has all the local teams minus Wake Forest (sorry Amy) in action. At 2:00, NC State plays their second game of the tourney against Virginia, who earned themselves a first-round bye. UNC-Chapel Hill plays Florida State tonight at 9:00 p.m. and Duke battles the Terps at 7:00. More than likely, all three locals will see their fans happy come Saturday.

The action is underway as we type this. Scrappy BC is holding their own against league champ Miami.

Anyway, it’s a great time to live in the Raleigh-Cary-Durham area, as few places in the country can match us for college sports atmosphere. Sure, the SEC has football season, but that’s where it ends. We have all seasons here, and they’re all reason enough to not be at work. Have fun!
