Carolina RailHawks to play Chivas USA in US Open Cup

The Carolina Railhawks have not been having a terrific season with only one win in league play. Regardless of how the rest of the season plays out, players and fans will always have the U.S. Open Cup to remember.

Last week, in front of a very loud and highly passionate WakeMed Soccer Park crowd, the home town team knocked off Major League Soccer’s champion, the Los Angelas Galaxy, 2-1 to advance in the national tournament that features an array of talented teams stacked with global superstars.

Now the Hawks face Chivas USA, also of the MLS, in tonight’s fourth-round match up. Sports Illustrated gave our squad some love in a story about the tournament that is rich in underdog intrique.

Despite the slow season, the Railhawks are clicking. Or kicking, rather. They’ve won three straight and could make it a thrilling fourth in a row tonight at 7:00 p.m. in Cary. We hope everyone can make it out for what will certainly be a great match.
