Yard House to open in North Hills. Is Raleigh now Brewpub City?

Yard House coming to North Hills in Raleigh

Look out Ale House. Heads up Fox & Hound. Another beer-centric family dining experience is coming to the Triangle. And it’s a big one.

The News & Observer is reporting that Yard House Restaurants is going to open a new location in the CapTrust Tower in North Hills East. This may mean that fewer people from that side of the street end up in the core of North Hills for happy hour, business lunches and company get-togethers.

The chain is heavily based in the western United States but does have locations in Virginia Beach and Boston.

Yard House offers hundreds of beers and its ceilings are lined with broad piping that carries the beer lines, which carry the beer, from the cold keg room to patrons’ pints. Their food is quite good and the menu is broad, but not Cheesecake Factory broad. (Heck, “War & Peace” looks like a Post-It note compared to that place’s menu.)

Yard House’s announcement suggests that there is still not enough beer joints to satisfy the Triangle’s thirst for unique brews. Craft beer companies continue to open and thrive and Tyler’s Tap Room opened a second Triangle location in Seaboard Station a few months ago. Clearly, we’re a thirsty bunch.

The restaurant is expected to open by football season.

(Oh, and it should be noted that the chain doesn’t not actually serve yard glasses of beer. Only half yards.)
