Lobby in Duke's new cancer treatment center

There are a number of reasons why the Triangle is home to a number of outstanding retirement and active adult communities. Weather. Affordability. And of course, proximity to renowned medical facilites.

Today, Duke University is opening a new cancer treatment center that cost $235 million. Yes, that’s a big number. But it shouldn’t get in the way of the fact that this new facility will draw people to the Triangle from around the country for care.

Whether it be for something as joyous as a new child coming into the world or for some of life’s more unfortunate experiences, Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill have within their borders some of the nation’s premier hospitals and university medical centers. It should be noted that when it comes to seeking care for the ones we love, there are no rivalries between the cities and their associated medical organizations. Everyone comes together here when wellness becomes an issue.

The availability of reputable medical care should be a serious concern for people considering a relocation. Of course, jobs and home values and lifestyle amenities are crucial as well. When the time comes for needing healthcare though, few cities in the country can match the collective power of care found in the Triangle.
