Annual Raleigh Christmas Parade this weekend, 11/19 at 10:00 a.m.

People have wondered for years why the Raleigh Christmas Parade is held in November. Even though it’s always been held in November. And, let’s face it, why does it matter? After all, it’s a tradition.
Every year, the City kicks off its celebration of Christmas the week before Thanksgiving, including in its celebratory march high school bands from around the Triangle, floats, balloons, local organizations and businesses, performers and of course, what Raleigh-area event would be complete without American Idol winner Scotty McCreery? Oh, and that Santa guy will be there as well.
The parade draws tens of thousands to Downtown and this week’s weather looks perfect: cool and sunny. Plus, parking is free in all city-owned lots and decks, as well as along metered streets.
The parade route:
- Starts on Hillsborough at St. Mary’s St.
- East on Hillsborough Street
- South at State Capitol on Salisbury St.
- East on Morgan St.
- Ends on Fayetteville St.
Hope you can make it!
