UPDATE: US Men’s National Soccer team back at Cary’s WakeMed Soccer Park

Men's National Soccer TeamThe Carolina Railhawks and WakeMed Soccer park will also host the U.S. Women’s National Soccer team against Japan on May 18.


We heard a few weeks ago that the Railhawks are indeed staying put in Cary under new ownership. And now we get news that the Men’s National Soccer team will be holding a few practices at Cary’s WakeMed Soccer Park next week, March 21-24, in preparation for two friendly matches against world power Argentina and Paraguay.

At this point, it’s safe to say Cary has within its borders one the nation’s best soccer facilities. Not only has WakeMed Soccer Park hosted the NCAA men’s and women’s championships, the ACC men’s and women’s league championship tournaments and a been tread upon by the best of the best in the world of women’s professional soccer, its fields will now be used for a second time by some of the best male players in the world. The U.S. team trained here for short stints before the 2002 and 2006 World Cups.

By the way, Railhawks tickets are now on sale for their opening game against Puerto Rico on April 9.
