So a couple of weeks ago we wrote this post about an online fire sale of Railhawks merchandise that appeared to signal the end of the team’s run at Cary’s WakeMed Soccer Park.

Hey, it was a natural reaction; we’ve lost a few teams over the years despite a rapid soccer fanship throughout the Triangle. Plus, the team had just lost three major players to the big leagues.

Well, it turns out the team was just on its way to new ownership. Everything is going to stay as is. The team is now under the guidance of local boy Curt Johnson, who will serve as team president and played at NC State during one of the school’s better runs through ACC soccer. Johnson was the GM of the MLS’ Kansas City Wizards when it won the league in 2000. Obviously, he knows talent and how to manage a sports team.

Good stuff. See you this summer.
