North Carolina continues to attract new residents. We’re not surprised.

Welcome to NC!

We can’t really count all the reasons why we love living in North Carolina. But we can easily list a few:

> affordable housing
> great job market
> proximity to outstanding beaches
> all levels of major sports
> great year-round weather (with seasons!)

Clearly, we’re not the only people who have been attracted by these characteristics. The U.S. Census results are starting to filter in and they show that the Tar Heel State has grown by almost 1.5 million people in the last ten years. Nationally, that puts us fifth on the growth chart.

All of the state’s major metros offer terrific reasons to live in them. Obviously, we’re partial to the Triangle. In our opinion, it has as many amenities as a much larger city, like a Chicago or Boston, but without the “huge city” feel. And, the cost of living is substantially lower than in those types of locales. We can get to the Blue Ridge Mountains in a couple of hours and to places like the Outer Banks before noon. There are world-class universities, global corporate headquarters and influential political leaders. A lot goes on here in the Triangle.

It is safe to say that one of the reasons we like being real estate agents in this area is because of how much we like to sell towns like Cary and Apex. They’re smaller, diverse and yet completely self-sufficient. Connected to all major roadways and retail amenities, you can call home to either town and always get to work on time, find the groceries you need and eat at some of the best restaurants around.

In short, it’s no surprise that North Carolina has outpaced much of the nation in growth over the last 20 years. We’re happy to call it home and excited that many members of our family have decided to join us here.

In case you’re not sure what the appeal is all about, have a look at this Flickr photo stream called “Beautiful NC”.

If you’re thinking about calling North Carolina, and specifically the Triangle, your new home in 2011, please give us a call. We would love to show you around.
