Living in … Preston
Cary has a number of terrific residential communities and Preston certainly stands out as one of its most popular.
Situated in the western half of Cary within the expansive, almost 2000-acre tract of land created by the meeting of Cary Parkway and High House Roads, Preston boasts an expansive array of subdivisions (31 total) and Prestonwood Country Club, a 54-hole PGA golf course that hosts a number of professional and amateur events every year, including a Champions Tour stop. The country club also has an outstanding tennis facility, multiple pools and a number of member dining options.
Preston’s neighborhoods provide homeowners with enough amenity access to be in essence, completely self-sufficient. Terrific restaurants, shopping opportunities, day cares, medical facilities and several grocery stores, including a Fresh Market, are all within a couple of miles, at most, of just about every home. In other words, the odds are very good that you’ll run into your neighbor at the dairy freezer.
More over, both main traffic arteries out of the community can stream commuters straight to their jobs in Research Triangle Park, straight down Cary Parkway to SAS and easily into Morrisville, Apex and Raleigh. Many who live in Preston do not have to use I-40 to reach work.
Relative to home prices, expect to find the majority of family homes starting in the high $300k on up to over $1,000,000. You may stumble across a steal in the low to mid threes on occasion but it would most likely be a short sale or foreclosure scenario.
Expect to find very high quality homes throughout Preston, many less than 15-years-old, with sizable and artfully landscaped lots. Preston residents are proud of their streets, and with good reason.
If you think Preston is an area you would like to visit in your home search, please let us know. It’s a terrific neighborhood for families and those who want to stay active, be involved with their neighbors and always feel at home.
