Carolina RailHawks to play for USSF D-2 League Championship

The Carolina RailHawks are playing for the league championship. Pretty sweet, huh?

In a two-game series against the Montreal Impact, the Hawks did exactly what was needed after losing the first game 1-0 last Thursday, and that was put at least two in the back of the net in order to have a final series tally of two goals to Montreal’s one, which is how the series winner is determined. (It’s called an aggregate goal format.) The RailHawks accumulated goals from Brad Rusin and Tom Heinemann, both of which came in the second half, adding just the right amount of drama.

The championship for the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) D-2 will see the RailHawks traveling to Puerto Rico for the first of two games this Sunday, 10/24. Then next Saturday, on 10/30 at 7:00 p.m., the teams will meet again at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary.

If you get the chance after the kids are done scarfing down their Reese’s, bring ‘em out to Cary for the game. The WakeMed Soccer Park is a great place to watch soccer, it’s affordable and the RailHawks franchise does a great job getting the crowd and kids into the game.

Plus, it’s the championship!
