Harrington Grove is N. Raleigh neighborhood with a great location and variety of prices

For the next installment of our “Living In …” series, we’re going to take a drive on I-540, exiting on Leesville Road and heading north into Harrington Grove, which boasts an outstanding mid-Triangle location and a range of home prices from first-time home buyer to established executive.

Harrington Grove’s most appealing characteristic might very well be its location. Set less than a mile off of 540 and one exit away from the restaurant-, retail- and business-rich Brier Creek, there are few hotbeds of activity in the Triangle that can’t be reached easily from Harrington Grove.

Parents of elementary-aged students in Wake County have the newly opened Sycamore Creek school and member families of the Catholic Church can look into the St. Francis of Assisi community, which is in the final stages of a massive expansion of its school and Parrish amenities.

Harrington Grove itself is geographically defined by rolling hills, fenced streets and a number of individually named communities that hold homes ranging from the high $100s to mid-$300k. Spanning the heart of the development is a paved and well-shaded walking path that is frequented by walkers, runners and kids being towed in Radio-Flyers. The path also borders the Harrington Grove Swim & Racquet Club, which, while open to the public, is used primarily by residents. There is also a large playground that stays active year-round.

Come Memorial Day weekend, the spirit of Harrington Grove can be found at the pool. The Harrington Grove Stingrays compete with other regional pool communities and hold weekly practices and meets throughout the season. But the adults get to compete as well. Come July 4 weekend, the keg rolls, beer dives and watermelon races give everyone a reason to cheer. And to point and laugh.

Harrington Grove is N. Raleigh neighborhood with a great location and variety of pricesThe Harrington Grove homeowners’ association does a very good job at maintaining oversight of neighborhood issues and when something important arises, they make sure everyone knows all sides.

Given the location, residents of Harrington Grove work at all corners of the Triangle, heading out every morning to Wake Forest, Downtown Raleigh, Cary, Durham and RTP. Morning traffic can be tough if timed with school drop-offs but recent construction efforts have done a lot to alleviate the back-ups. Plus, there are several back-road routes you can take over to Brier Creek to access Highway 70 directly into RTP or that hook up again with 540.

We’ve had a few listings in Harrington Grove and would be glad to show you around or answer questions about selling in this neighborhood, which has maintained its overall value quite well.
